My Dad Fathers Life
My dad loves life, and everything and everyone who loves life.
He loves children and old people, and everyone in between. He loves energy and enthusiasm, he loves grit and determination, he loves passions and excitement.
Two weeks ago, my dad found a fallen nest with two baby birds, despite his thick calloused hands, he scooped the nest up with baby hands, and fed the tiny birds through a syringe for days.
Last week my dad sent me the pictures of his goat giving birth to two cute baby goats, my mom took a video of how he helped the mamma-goat, as if his life depended on it.
My dad love plants and flowers, and cactus and anything packed with life. He has hundreds of cactus, which are basically his pets, and talk about them as if they were people. Yes, this cute.
Today he sent me the photos of his moonflower cactus. These are special to him, they bloom the most incredibly delicate flower at sunrise, which dissipates itself when the sun sets, despite the long wait and the short life, he loves them unconditionally.
I am thinking about my dad, because today my colleague Mozeem father of a young boy and a 6-week old baby girl, lost his girl. He tried everything he could to rescue a very desperate situation. Sometimes, despite the strongest grip and the baby hands, life — not love — slips away, and there is nothing a father can do than just watch the most beautiful flower breathe her last, when the sun sets.
