3 Ways to Up Your Mobile Photography Game

Humans have been fascinated with photography since it’s inception. We looove to take pictures of everything: ourselves, our surroundings, pets, loved ones, food, ourselves again.

With the quality and availability of powerful mobile phones that offer high-quality photos, photography has never been easier. Does that mean everyone should be taking pictures and uploading them to the internet?

Yeah probably not….

Photography can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be. Let’s go on a little journey together shall we?

Here are some super easy ways to make your pictures look better for any occasion:

Plan Ahead

Some people make the huge mistake of just going out and doing something ambitious without putting any forethought into it. More often than not, these won’t turn out the way you want them to.

Taking some time to plan out the composition of your shot and thinking about lighting, colors, or location can make a world of difference.

I like to sketch out some rough thumbnails of possible shots, look through Instagram hashtags to find inspiration, and walk around the location I want to shoot to get a feel for what it’s going to be like. Find something that works for you and go for it!

Ask yourself some questions before you head out:

Learn to Compose

Possibly the hardest part about learning to make quality photos is composition. There are tons of techniques that can instantly improve any photo’s quality. Some of the most easy to learn are: Rule of Thirds, Centered Symmetry, and Frame Within A Frame

Get Some Mobile Editing Apps

Good news! If you get home and your photos don’t turn out exactly the way you want them to, you can fix that! To an extent of course. They’re programs not genies.

There are powerful editing tools out there that you can download straight to your phone and instantly change the lighting, colors, depth, or composition, and can even add text directly to your photos.

There’s no one right way to take a picture. There might be some wrong ways, but ultimately the experience should be a fun one. It’s art! Enjoy it while you can. Sometimes things go wrong and that can be stressful. It doesn’t mean you failed or you didn’t plan enough, just that you learned something you should take with you into the future.

Now go do art! Doesn’t matter if it’s bad, just do it.
