A Psychological trick to help you develop a Game Engine

Is going to be almost six years since I decided to develop a game engine. When I started, I knew that it was a crazy idea, and many people thought it too. But looking back, the craziness was not…

Living the Language and Culture

As September comes to a close, the past month has already given me much to talk about. From the new classes in the continuation period of the program to visiting new cities, I have been busier and happier than ever.

My first week of classes in the continuation period was a breath of fresh air from the intensive period. I am currently enrolled in 16 credits, which include a grammar course on advanced Spanish expressions, a writing module, art history of Spain, gastronomy of Spain, and my favorite — folk dancing (flamenco). The nice part about my schedule is that the majority of my Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are free to explore more of Spain!

While our professors, like those in the US, encourage us to learn a lot in the classrooms, they also frequently remind us that there is much to learn from experiencing Sevilla and other cultures. This is something I really appreciate because at times (at home) I often felt that lessons learned in school and the “real world” were separate. Here though, the best way to understand the Spanish language and culture is to live it as well as learning in classes. It is as easy as going to one of the many cafes, ordering (in Spanish, of course) un café con leche or zumo de naranja as true Sevillianos do.

I’m grateful that the Spanish Studies Abroad program also encourages us to travel outside of Spain. I actually JUST got back from Portugal with a travel program that is super affordable for students called We Love Spain, and I think that this trip has made me realize that I am interested in the tourism industry! Who knows, maybe I will end up with an internship or a job with this company at some point in the future.

Praia da Dona Ana is a beautiful beach that has been voted in the top 10 of the world!

Portugal was beautiful, but I am sunburnt and ready for bed. In my next post, I hope to cover some of the many excursions Spanish Studies Abroad has made available for us.

Vale, stay tuned! xoxo
